Hello! I am Katie Mallett, I am the manager at Fobbing Farm Close.
We are Seymour House’s smallest nursery school. I see this as an advantage as we develop very close bonds with all our children and are able to create activities to suit the different stages of all our children’s development. Our warm and homely nursery is friendly and welcoming, with three modern home-base rooms and spacious well equipped gardens.
We see the EYFS as a starting block and build on it with our own tailor made activities which are aimed to be both fun and educational giving your child the best possible start in their educational journey. We acknowledge that the aim of an early year's education is to prepare a child for their future learning. For more information about how we go beyond the EYFS please visit the Prepared for Schools section.
We are a team of 12 staff and all hold at least an NVQ level 3 in childcare. At Fobbing Farm we also benefit from the skills and knowledge of staff with degrees in Early Year's Education.
Each home based room is organised with appropriate facilities for the age and stage of development it caters for. There is space for arts and crafts, messy activities and sand and water play. There is also a book and story area and the IT area which has an interactive table to allow children to develop IT skills.
As well as planned activities being provided both indoors and outdoors, children are able to play with a large range of equipment which they are encouraged to access themselves.
The Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) and Beyond
The period from birth to the end of the Reception Year at school is known as the Early Years Foundation Stage. Children develop more quickly at this stage than at any other time in their lives and lay the foundations for life long learning. Young children learn best through play and exploration. Our practitioners provide the children with opportunities for appropriate play and learning experiences, as well as support for their stage in development. The activities will underpin the skills children will develop when they go to school.
Key Person
One specific member of the nursery team will be chosen to be your child's Key Person. Their role is to provide continuity of care and to communicate with you regularly to ensure your child's needs are met. They will also invite you to contribute to the planning process helping to ensure that all activities are appropriate for a child's level of development.
Beyond the EYFS
Please see the 'Prepared for School' section of our website to see how we ensure children have the best possible head start as they go to school and begin their educational journeys.
