Broomfield Road, Chelmsford Day Nurseries

Welcome to the Broomfield Road Day Nursery School!

Broomfield Road was the first Seymour House day nursery and was established in 1988. The original house has been extended and carefully adapted to meet the needs of developing children whilst also maintaining its character and charm. Broomfield Road is set in over a quarter of an acre of land with spacious gardens whilst only being a ten minute walk form the town centre.

If you would like to chat with us, you can call us on 01245 492 642 from 7.45am to 6pm, Monday to Friday.

Sarah Rushbrook

Hello, I am Claire Hill-Burton, the Nursery Manager at Broomfield Road.

I joined Seymour House at Lawn Lane and progressed along the management pathway to become manager at Broomfield Road.  I am proud of my team who create a warm and friendly environment that enables children to explore and learn.  All the team are qualified to at least an NVQ Level 3 but we also benefit from the knowledge and experience of team members with NNEB's, NVQ 4,5,6's, BA (Hons) and a QTS.

Lynsey ArmstrongHi, I'm Lynsey Armstrong (HoEYP, BA, EYP)

I have been working for Seymour House for 4 years.  What I love most as the Head of Early Years Practice is that no two days are the same!  I am passionate about delivering the EYFS to an outstanding level and seeing the positive impact this has on children’s learning and development.  The idea of dual leadership is the Nursery Manager deals with the running of the nursery and I am free to focus solely on educational practice.  This allows for greater specialism and to ensure children and parents receive the best service.

The nursery building is a century old Victorian house that has been beautifully converted to meet the needs of exploring children.  We also have a large  (0.5 acre) garden that is ideal for our children to play and explore.

The large, spacious garden includes a sensory house, the ‘Explorers Den’, and a wildlife area. The children can access the garden in all weathers to participate in both child and adult led activities.

We have close links with the local community, working with local schools and children’s centres. This term we have focused on creating a more neutral environment that promotes a calm environment for care and education. Our babies have a cosy corner with a cosy nest, soft toys and soft books, for rest, play and sleeping.

The Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS)

The period from birth to the end of the Reception Year at school is known as the Early Years Foundation Stage. Children develop more quickly at this stage than at any other time in their lives and lay the foundations for life long learning. Young children learn best through play and exploration. Our practitioners provide the children with opportunities for appropriate play and learning experiences, as well as support for their stage in development. The activities will underpin the skills children will develop when they go to school.

Key Person

One specific member of the nursery team will be chosen to be your child's Key Person. Their role is to provide continuity of care and to communicate with you regularly to ensure your child’s needs are met. They will also invite you to contribute to the planning process helping to ensure that all activities are appropriate for a child’s level of development.

Ofsted

Beyond the EYFS

Please see the ‘Prepared for School’ section of our website to see how we ensure children have the best possible head start as they go to school and their educational journeys.

We are very proud to know that our nursery was judged to be ‘outstanding’ in all areas by Ofsted.
