Day Nursery Basildon

Kelly DownHi, I am Nicola Davis the Manager the Dunton Nursery.

‘I joined Oak Tree Nursery as the Manager in January 2006. I previously managed the nursery at Basildon for a short period. I have always worked in a child care setting since completing my NNEB in 1996. I believe that day care provides children with the best start in life, providing a safe, secure and educational journey whilst creating an environment which we consider to be an extension of home.

The nursery currently employs 20 staff all of whom hold appropriate early years qualifications to level 3 and above. Our well trained team have a sound knowledge of learning, development and care for children aged birth to five years and provide a professional, reliable and efficient service to all parents and children.

Oak Tree Nursery is a warm and welcoming environment for children and adults. The nursery is all at ground level and is easily accessed through a double door leading into a spacious lobby. There are four home base rooms which interlink, with lots of natural light from low windows where the facilities and equipment can be closely tailored to each child’s individual needs. The nursery is set in a green and open area and each home base room has access to a secure, spacious outdoor learning environment.

The period from birth to the end of the Reception Year at school is known as the Early Years Foundation Stage. Children develop more quickly at this stage than at any other time in their lives and lay the foundations for life long learning. Young children learn best through play and exploration. Our practitioners provide the children with opportunities for appropriate play and learning experiences, as well as support for their stage in development. The activities will underpin the skills children will develop when they go to school.

Key Person

One specific member of the nursery team will be chosen to be your child's Key Person. Thir role is to provide continuity of care and to communicate with you regularly to ensure your child’s needs are met. They will also invite you to contribute to the planning process helping to ensure that all activities are appropriate for a child’s level of development.
