Springfield Road Day Nursery School

Welcome to the Springfield Road Day Nursery!

At Springfield Road we pride ourselves on providing our children with secure foundations for future learning. Letters and sounds, music and movement sessions, song and rhyme times, alongside visits from outside agencies including the fire service and horticultural society ensure our children are fully prepared for school life.  Our well-established links with local schools supports the transition process, with Reception teachers from local schools visiting for story times.

We were inspected by Ofsted in 2011 and judged to be outstanding in all areas.  See 'care & education' to find out more.

If you would like to chat with us about the nursery and our provision, you can call us on 01245 49 54 55 from 7.45am to 6pm, Monday to Friday.

Springfield Road Day Nursery, Essex

Gemma Dyer

Hello, my name is Gemma Dyer and I am the Nursery Manager here at Hurst Court.

I have worked for Seymour House for 8 years. During this time I have progressed from a newly qualified practitioner to a Nursery Manager. A particular feature within Springfield Road which I love has to be the nursery team. They are warm, friendly and approachable and strive to ensure all the children are treated individually with love and care ensuring their development needs are met and adequate support is given.  I am confident that we provide a great service to our children and their parents.

Jo Nice, Chelmsford Day Nurseries

Hello, my name is Jo Nice and I am the Head of Early Years Practice (BA, QTS)

I oversee high quality care and education alongside Gemma, the Nursery Manager. My interest in childcare began when I was at school following a work experience placement within a Nursery. This led me onto studying a BA (Hons) in Education with QTS. Teaching in a Primary School highlighted my interest in the Early Years which I have been able to pursue over the past 4 years with Seymour House. Being able to positively support and challenge children in reaching their potential, whilst celebrating successes together and watching them grow and develop within a fun and happy environment is why I thoroughly enjoy my role at Springfield Road!  My primary concern as HoEYP is to ensure our children are enjoying their education and development and are ultimately ready for the next step in their educational journey.

Our Team of practitioners are all qualified to NVQ Level 3 or above and the nursery has 18 team members in total. Some of the team members also hold BA (hons) in Early Years, NNEB’s, BTEC’s and NVQ 4 & 5’s.

With our combined levels of skills and knowledge we aim to exceed your expectations and continue to deliver outstanding care and education.

Each home based room is organised with appropriate facilities for the stage of development it caters for. There is space for arts and crafts, messy activities and sand and water play. There is also a book and story area and the IT area which has an interactive table to allow children to develop IT skills.

As well as planned activities being provided both indoors and outdoors, children are able to play with a large range of equipment which they are encouraged to access themselves.

The Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS)

The period from birth to the end of the Reception Year at school is known as the Early Years Foundation Stage. Children develop more quickly at this stage than at any other time in their lives and lay the foundations for life long learning. Young children learn best through play and exploration. Our practitioners provide the children with opportunities for appropriate play and learning experiences, as well as support for their stage in development. The activities will underpin the skills children will develop when they go to school.

Key Person

One specific member of the nursery team will be chosen to be your child's key person. Thir role is to provide continuity of care and to communicate with you regularly to ensure your child’s needs are met. They will also invite you to contribute to the planning process helping to ensure that all activities are appropriate for a child’s level of development.

Ofsted Award for Day Nurseries

Beyond the EYFS

Please see the ‘Prepared for School’ section of our website to see how we ensure children have the best possible head start as they go to school and continue on their educational journeys.

We are very proud to know that our nursery is judged to be ‘outstanding’ in all areas by Ofsted.
